The conservative movement in Canada and the US has been very successful at painting Conservatives as paragons of fiscal discipline compared to what they love to depict as “tax and spend Liberals”. That success is reminiscent of the populist maxim often attributed to Joseph Goebbels: “if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth”. Since the debt numbers quoted in my Considerations page are quite different from what you’ve likely heard from conservative media reports, I felt it important to list my sources so that you can check them for yourself.
